What to pack in your birth/hospital bag?

Here is what I would pack!

  • Birth plan, have this printed so you can hand to your midwife

  • Positive affirmation cards

  • Battery tea lights, fairy lights or galaxy light to create the perfect low lit and calm environment

  • Photos of loved ones / other children

  • Healthy, nutrient rich snacks / drinks. Labour is thirsty work, a water bottle with a straw will save time and energy

  • Toiletries, things to make you feel more comfortable - face/body wipes, deodorant, moisturiser, dry shampoo, lip balm

  • Comforting items - blanket, pillow, eye mask (an eye mask is great for the journey to hospital and if there are any interventions you do not wish to view)

  • Essential oils / spray and diffuser - a blend of lavender, chamomile and clary sage provide calming and labour inducing qualities

  • Speaker for your favourite music or hypnobirthing tracks

  • Comb, stress ball or TENS machine

  • Comfortable PJ’s or nightie with buttons for booby access if you are breastfeeding

  • Birth partner, you might need a bigger bag for this one
